This link will send you to part of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) website, which you will be able to access each State's insurance department's web-site. Many of these sites allow you to research the proper licensing and whether their have been any censures of fines levied against a particular agent. Another useful site is the one maintained by law.free.advice.com from this site you can access the State law information for each of the 50 states including that State's Insurance Code.
